Feb 9th: Greendrinks Searches for the Light

Published by bgreendrinks on

February is when Mainers really start to notice the lengthening of the days, so let’s celebrate the returning of the light. Now is also a good time to enlighten ourselves about Indigenous issues as we focus attention on this month’s featured organization. So, join us for our next virtual event on Tuesday, February 9th from 5-8 pm. This event will be an online social gathering like the ones we’ve been doing recently.
This month, we’re highlighting the important work of the Sunlight Media Collective. As they note: “The Sunlight Media Collective is an organization of indigenous and non-indigenous media makers and activists, including Wabanaki tribal members, working to document and present stories affecting Wabanaki people and highlighting Wabanaki perspectives, with a particular emphasis on the intersection between environmental issues and tribal rights.” For more information, check out their website: https://sunlightmediacollective.org.
There’s also going to be an opportunity for you to win a $25 Buoy Local gift card! Everyone who likes and shares this month’s featured video, once it’s available, by midnight on Thursday, February 11th will be entered for a chance to be the randomly selected winner of the gift card!
We also love it when you let us know that you’re attending the event! Be sure to post messages, photos, and short videos on the event wall to let us know that you’re attending.
And if you can, please help support the Sunlight Media Collective financially. If feasible, we’d ask you to consider donating your usual $5 to Greendrinks, and all of the money that we raise on February 9th and for a few weeks after will be passed on to the Sunlight Media Collective to help finance their important work. We’ll also be selling hard copies of our Bangor Area Trails map for $5, with all proceeds going to the same organization; to purchase the map, see our PayPal site: https://www.paypal.com/instantc…/checkout/2QABGAWQVGS26….
Finally, be sure to watch when the Bangor Greendrinks Chair, Mark, goes live for “the talk” around 6:30 pm on February 9th. This is the “Facebook Live” portion of the evening.
See you at the next virtual event when we celebrate the returning of the light and highlight the important work of the Sunlight Media Collective.
Cheers!
