Feb 8: Maine Day Meal Packout

Published by bgreendrinks on

Join us for our next virtual event on Tuesday, February 8th from 5-8 pm as we help the Maine Day Meal Packout kick off its 2022 campaign. This event will be an online social gathering like the ones we’ve been doing recently. Attendees are encouraged to safely gather with friends.

The Maine Day Meal Packout is an annual service project to fight food insecurity across Maine organized and hosted by the University of Maine Honors College. The MDMP purchases, packs, and sends meals to those in need across the state. Student volunteers spend months organizing the annual MDMP, and those efforts yield impressive results. In 2017, UMaine set the record for the most meals packed by a U.S. university during one event, packing 107,500 meals. This year’s MDMP will be on April 27th. For more information: https://www.facebook.com/umainemdmp/.If feasible, we’d ask you to consider donating your usual $5 or more, and all of the money that we raise on February 8th and for a few weeks after will be passed on to support the 2022 MDMP.

We’re also selling hard copies of our Bangor Area Trails map for $5, with all proceeds going to the same organization; to purchase the map, see our PayPal site: https://www.paypal.com/instantc…/checkout/2QABGAWQVGS26….

We also love it when you let us know that you’re attending the event! Be sure to post messages, photos, and short videos on the event wall to let us know that you’re attending. Group shots are encouraged (again, safely).

Finally, be sure to watch when the Bangor Greendrinks Chair, Mark, goes live for “the talk” around 6:30 pm on February 8th. This is the “Facebook Live” portion of the evening.

See you at the next virtual event when we help the Maine Day Meal Packout kick off its 2022 campaign!Cheers!
