Who loves science? We do! That’s why we’re super stoked about the return of the Maine Science Festival! Join us for our next virtual event on Tuesday, March 8th from 5-8 pm as we celebrate the return of the MSF. This event will be an online social gathering like the ones we’ve been doing recently. Attendees are encouraged to safely gather with friends.
The Maine Science Festival is the first and only science festival in Maine. The MSF launched in 2015 and is a celebration of the national and world-leading science by the Mainers who do it. Sidelined by the COVID pandemic, the MSF is back and will be taking place from March 16-20. For more information: https://www.mainesciencefestival.org.
This year, the MSF will be featuring The Warming Sea, a symphonic piece about climate change in the Gulf of Maine by GRAMMY award winner Lucas Richman. Several organizations came together to make this special event happen:
– Maine Science Festival (& Maine Discovery Museum)
– Climate Change Institute at the University of Maine
– Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences
– Gulf of Maine Research Institute
– Friends of Casco Bay
– Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries
– Maine Coast Heritage Trust
– Aquaculture Research Institute
– Bangor Symphony Orchestra
For more information about The Warming Sea: https://www.thewarmingsea.me.
If feasible, we’d ask you to consider donating your usual $5 or more, and all of the money that we raise on March 8th and for a few weeks after will be passed on to support the MSF, which has been financially hit hard by the pandemic.
We’re also selling hard copies of our Bangor Area Trails map for $5, with all proceeds going to the same organization; to purchase the map, see our PayPal site: https://www.paypal.com/instantc…/checkout/2QABGAWQVGS26….
We also love it when you let us know that you’re attending the event! Be sure to post messages, photos, and short videos on the event wall to let us know that you’re attending. Group shots are encouraged (again, safely).
Finally, be sure to watch when the Bangor Greendrinks Chair, Mark, goes live for “the talk” around 6:30 pm on March 8th. This is the “Facebook Live” portion of the evening.
See you at the next virtual event when we celebrate the return of the Maine Science Festival!
Cheers!
